Post Thanksgiving Friday… Swinging Into Christmas

Sorry for the later-than-usual update. Today, I didn’t get on island until this afternoon and didn’t come off until after 5 p.m. Teammates Dave and Lisa continue daily work on both my home and our office, but they start at sunup. One of us usually is on Sanibel (Pix below of Dave’s first trek to lighthouse beach yesterday.). What we can accomplish ourselves is close to done, so we are getting antsy for contractors to get going on the real construction. Permits first!

I posted another summary of the City’s weekly Post-Ian progress update on both business and personal Facebook pages. That turned into being good advertisement. With over 2,000 FB followers now, I have been getting new real estate buyer inquiries from those updates. Since the last City update, there have been a few new things announced, more on that below. Next City update is Tuesday November 29 at 5 p.m,

Events & Businesses

With Jerry’s and Cielo open, it also was nice to hear of other establishments reopening. Trader’s Restaurant and Shopping Emporium did on Tuesday. They are serving lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, music and the bar stay open until 8 p.m. (Island curfew remains 9 a.m. to 6 a.m.)

On Captiva, The Island Store (Bailey’s) on the corner of Andy Rosse Ln and Captiva Dr is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

To accommodate employees working at island businesses, the City is offering a new cloud-based list of those authorized to be on the island. The City website had details on how employers may register them. The employees then need to provide identification, rather than a reentry-pass, at the police entry points coming on island. Re-entry passes still apply for everyone else (residents, contractors, insurance & utility workers).

The East Periwinkle Bridge that was expected to be open to vehicles by Thanksgiving was still under construction today.

The Tree Lighting event at ‘Tween Waters just finished. It started with music at 6 p.m. tree lighting and fireworks at 7. Here is a link to the YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i86X1-fCqqg
